TREND and the SBIR

HOW TREND CAN HELP

TREND provides assistance with all phases of the SBIR—from identifying research opportunities and explaining the proposal requirements to developing a proposal and planning for commercialization.

TREND also operates the Phase 0 program, through a partnership with the Alaska EPSCOR.

TREND—the Technology Research and Development Center—is a partner of the Alaska Procurement Technical Assistance Center and a program of the Alaska Small Business Development Center. TREND was established in 2001 to increase the number of Alaska companies submitting proposals to the SBIR program. If you are not an Alaska company, check your local area for the nearest SBDC for assistance with the SBIR program.

TREND supports Alaskan small businesses pursuing SBIR contracts by providing the following:

  • Technical Assistance
  • Workshops
  • Outreach
  • Topic searching and matching
  • Proposal Strategy
  • Proposal Review
  • SBIR Mentors
  • Presentation to organization

TREND also offers a unique service by arranging for expert reviews prior to final submission of your proposal.

Phase 0

TREND operates the Phase 0 program in partnership with UAF’s Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR). Phase 0 is a mini grant program available for use with SBIR proposal development and SBIR activity only. Funding is up to $5,000 for first time proposals. A second level of funding, up to $15,000, is available for Alaska companies that have secured a Phase I or II award.
